Five monkeys, a porcupine, an emu, and a tiger, amongst others, crossed from the occupied territory into Israel after the zoo suffered from years of issues. The zoo has been showing crammed animals that died from starvation alongside stay animals, who survived dire conditions, and Israeli airstrikes on the Strip, which has been under blockade due to 2007. “The situations the animals had been beneath were very a ways from perfect,” said the project chief, Amir Khalil, in keeping with AP, adding that the animals might have “a massive trade” in their new houses.

With a lack of understanding of Gaza’s animal welfare, the densely-populated territory has formerly made headlines after some other zoo-painted donkeys with stripes to resemble zebras in 2009. The unique pair of zebras died of starvation during Israel’s conflict in opposition to Hamas. 4 Paws had previously taken animals out of Gaza, consisting of numerous lions and cubs. The wee ones were sold as pets to a resident from a refugee camp.
