Frequently asked questions About Distance Education.

Q: What inspired you to become a distance education major?

A: My mom used to work with someone who was a psychologist and wanted to be a psychologist herself. She told me it would be great to be a psychologist. Then she gave me some psychology books and how they are trained to become psychologists. After reading through them, I thought, “Wow, this looks like what I want to do.” So, I did my research and decided to go that route.

Q: How has distance education helped you prepare for graduate school?

A: I didn’t know much about what graduate school would be like before I started college, but now I understand that I will be doing research for the rest of my life. This way, I will always be interested in what I am studying, and I will always be able to think creatively when dealing with issues. Also, I can take as many classes as I need because of distance education.

Q: What kind of research interests are you pursuing at the moment?

A: Right now, I am focusing on studying people who suffer from depression, which I have dealt with in the past.

Q: Do you have any advice for other distance education students considering graduate school?

A: I would tell other students to do as much research as possible about their potential major. Also, if you are thinking about taking on graduate school, make sure that you are interested in what you will be doing. You should not do something just because you want to be a psychologist or something else. You should be interested in that field, and if you do, then there is no problem going into graduate school.
